Last night, Seattle got more cowbell and a whole lot more. Will Ferrell was in town for an event benefiting Cancer for College, the same charity boosted by his “drum-off” this summer on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Ferrell’s opponent in this epic battle, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer and uncanny lookalike Chad Smith, recently suggested online he’d show up in Seattle to “settle the score once and for all.” He did — but so did Brandi Carlile, Pearl Jam‘s Mike McCready, Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, Loaded) and Dave Matthews Band‘s Stefan Lessard. With Ferrell, they all covered the Rolling Stones‘ “Honky Tonk Women.” There was much percussion. Watch from a few angles below.
Previously, Ferrell and Smith challenged Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich to a drum-off, so we may not have heard the last of these two beatkeepers’ efforts to raise money for cancer survivors’ college tuition.
