Weezer Set to Reunite With Ric Ocasek on New Record

It’s a little behind schedule if you go by last year’s Alternative Press report, but Weezer appear to have sparked the sessions for their ninth studio album, an effort that could keep them busy right on through summer. Not only that; they’re reportedly working with Ric Ocasek again, which is good news if you — like us — didn’t bother listening to just about every Weezer record since the last one the Cars frontman produced, 2001′s “Green Album.” (Okay, Maladroit wasn’t that bad, but Raditude? And Hurley, featuring the Lost character on its cover? Those efforts speak for themselves.)

Also of note in the Weezer department: their self-titled debut turns 20 this year, upping the likelihood of a greatest hits LP as well as the fourth volume in Rivers Cuomo’s attic-clearing Alone series. In the meantime, here’s a trailer straight from the studio…
