Young Statues’ latest single, “Run the River Dry,” coasts on incessant kick drum thumps and skittish, up-tempo synths. Carmen Cirignano’s vocals naturally evoke a cool melancholia as ghostly gang vocals guide the chorus, weaving through deliberate hi-hat splashes and razor-sharp, late ‘90s emo riffing. The video stars the Philly band trekking through a spooky dreamworld full of gravediggers, abandoned trailers and sinister forests, acting as a fitting backdrop for the indie-pop track’s somber but cryptic lyricism and waves of soft, slithering beats.

Produced by Saddle Creek’s Andy LeMaster, The Flatlands Are Your Friend is out now via Run For Cover Records.
