Max Jury was raised on Lucinda Williams and Tammy Wynette, so it’s no surprise that the Iowa-born singer-songwriter was drawn to Americana song structures and swinging his voice into a Southern twang. Since writing his first song at the age of 13, he’s gone on to tour the Midwest and open for Lana Del Rey. About to embark on a huge European tour, Jury will be supporting his latest EP which includes the breezy, lovelorn single “Black Metal.” Carried by simple piano chords and Jury’s pure falsetto, the smoky ode to unrequited love evokes the spirit of alt-country god Ryan Adams.
