The avant-garde composer Jozef Van Wissem has built an impressive body of work in a few short years, working extensively with Jim Jarmusch (he scored Only Lovers Left Alive, and has released several albums of experimental noise music with the acclaimed director on guitar) as well as noise legend Keiji Haino, classical guitarist James Blackshaw and others. His latest record, It Is Time For You To Return, is due December 2 on Crammed Discs, and you can watch the first video, for the track “Love Destroys All Evil,” below.

His lute, with it’s slightly tinny, steel-beaked edges sends out an arid tumble of notes that trace obsessively over two minor chords.
