The Unicorns Ready Long Overdue Reissue of Breakthrough Record

As revealed last month, The Unicorns have finally attained the rights to reissue their breakthrough record (2003′s Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone), as timed to their first shows in a decade. Due out in three phases — July 29 digitally, August 26 on CD, and October 7 on limited edition vinyl — through the band’s new Caterpillar imprint, the expanded release includes four bonus tracks. Among the spoils: a Daniel Johnston cover (“Rocket Ship”), a previously unreleased outtake called “Let Me Sleep,” and a live version of “Haunted House.”

In semi-related news, the group’s core duo of Alden Penner and Islands frontman Nick Thornburn have added a festival stop at Pop Montreal to their string of dates supporting Arcade Fire. Check out the full breakdown below, along with a streaming version of “Rocket Ship”…
