This hasn’t been the best couple of days for Drake. First, there are the reports that he had to go to the hospital after getting punched by Diddy at a Miami club last night. Today, Young Money associate and occasional beef-starter Tyga released the video for his single “Make It Work,” which stars Drake’s ex-girlfriend Dollicia Bryan as his main lady. She mostly just accompanies him to a club, dances and helps him carry his money to a high-stakes poker game, so it’s not like they did anything too suggestive, but it still has to grate on her former beau.
It’s a much subtler way of getting under Drake’s skin than Tyga has done in the past. In October, Tyga told VIBE, “I don’t like Drake as a person. He’s just fake to me,” and also took some shots at fellow YMCMB artist Nicki Minaj. Those comments allegedly led to a brawl between Tyga and Drake’s crews at a D.C. strip club, but it’s unclear if that actually happened. That was followed by a social-media war: Subtweets, insults, photos implying that Drake was sleeping with Tyga’s ex Blac Chyna and allegations that Tyga hacked Blac Chyna’s Twitter account to send tweets such as, “Im a gold digger & a cheater. I never really loved Tyga It was always about the money.” Phew.
Tyga also had issues with his label and the delayed release of his upcoming fourth album, The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty. That’s now due on December 23 and appears to be coming out via Tyga’s own label, Last Kings Music, which is listed on both the Amazon and iTunes links for the “Make It Work” single. Maybe he can help his buddy Lil Wayne get Tha Carter V out, considering Weezy is having his own problems with Cash Money. Drama!
