Trinidad James Shares New Song After Def Jam Split

After Tweeting — and subsequently deleting — that he’d been dropped by Def Jam on Friday night, Trinidad James sprung right back into action earlier today with a new track called “Doin’ Me.”

“All I can do is be me,” he insists over a spare, solemn beat. “And when you want that real, you gonna see me. I did it everybody else’s way; I’m back to doin’ me.”

Or as he told his many followers, rather bluntly, “I got dropped by the label. My album is now free. If you hear your beat or verse on it, I hope you want dap cuz I got no money.”

Def Jam has yet to comment on James’s now-defunct contract, which may have been worth as much as $2 million according to Billboard. Here’s his new song and the breakthrough single that helped the rapper land such a major deal in the first place…
