Nine Inch Nails fans who can’t wait for the October 3 release of David Fincher’s Gone Girl film can now rest easy: Trent Reznor’s soundtrack (written and recorded with his longtime collaborator Atticus Ross) is due out next Tuesday and now available for pre-order here. Reznor revealed the news over the weekend by streaming a new song called “The Way He Looks At Me.” Available below, the track lives up to the uneasy listening promises the NIN frontman made in a Wall Street Journal feature earlier this month, from its creeping melancholic keys to its mangled layers of well-oiled machinery.

“[Fincher] said, ‘Think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors,’” Reznor explained, when asked about the director’s musical direction. “The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s okay. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.”
