Greetings! Top of the Morning is your daily AM news round-up. We paid attention overnight and gathered relevant tidbits to share over that first cup of coffee.

First things first, we must all acknowledge that there are new Beyoncé tracks in existence. And the Knowles family somehow managed to put the spotlight on Mama Tina right before her daughter released the divorce anthem “Ring Off.” Damn, this family is good.

Yesterday, Saturday Night Live announced that Nicki Minaj will be making her second appearance on the show alongside third time host James Franco.

Minaj will appear in advance of the release of her new album The Pinkprint on December 15. During her last appearance in 2011, the rapper not only performed, but also jumped in on several of the skits as well. (Including one with the Lonely Island, see below.) Remember, Nicki graduated from LaGuardia High School, so she’ll always be a drama kid at heart.

Amazon’s All Is Bright holiday compilation is just the gift that keeps on giving. The other day we got to hear Liz Phair’s “dystopian Christmas song” titled “Ho Ho Ho” and now we’ve got Yoko Ono reworking “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” with the Flaming Lips. (Basically, they took a simple Christmas tune and added some synths.)

Lykke Li has been covering Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” during her shows, but this acoustic version that was filmed while she practiced backstage is quite beautiful. Also, we think the guy sitting across from her just made a white wine spritzer.

Now let’s watch Killer Mike and Action Bronson have a rap battle on treadmills. Happy Friday.
