Within a couple of weeks, the Knife will be no more. Karin Dreijer said in August: “When we finish the tour now in November we will close down, it’s our last tour. We don’t have any obligations to continue, it should only and always be for fun.” Over the summer, the Swedish group released Shaken-Up Versions, a mini-album of remixes, and as they bid farewell they’re releasing a few more reworkings of older material.

The Knife announced today they’ll make available remixes of “Stay Out Here” and “Ready to Lose,” both from last year’s staggering Shaking the Habitual. The remixers are Tama Sumo and Tarantism (“Ready to Lose”), Paula Temple (“Stay Out Here”) and Kane Roth (also “Stay Out Here”), and the remixes are on iTunes. You can listen to Roth’s “Stay Out Here” remix below, and scroll down for the Knife’s final dates and a promotional video.

Here’s a statement from Roth:

“The first time I listened to the original track, my thought was, this is a truly amazing piece, the best remix I have ever had to do. I always find it very inspiring working with great sounds that are not mine. I’ve found this project quite challenging and exciting. I was divided by a little fear and a powerful emotion, a little fear can lead you to do your best. I did several versions but when the track sounded more dark and techno, I started to be satisfied with the remix. My idea was to make the track accessible to DJs but at the same time to stay true to the song. I wanted to combine their synth and the vocals with some percussions, a deep bass and a special groove that fits well with the synth.”
