“Do you really wanna go back in time?” coos Olivia Merilahti in a new trailer for an upcoming short film from the Dø called “Miracles.” It’s a fair question: The Paris-based duo of Finnish expat Merilahti and multi-instrumentalist Dan Levy hasn’t released an album since 2011′s colorful, varied Both Ways Open Jaws. But the sleek, icy electro-pop here, from September 29 follow-up Shake Shook Shaken (pre-order via iTunes), would fit in just as well alongside newer artists like DIANA, CHVRCHES or, hey, last night’s Jimmy Fallon guests Sylvan Esso.

The clip — with its oracular, poetic footage of horse rides, sex, trains, anguished cries and unsettling children —heralds a 12-minute short film directed by Reynald Gresset of Iconoclast (the group behind famous videos for Pharrell’s “Happy,” M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls,” Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild” and more). The full film will feature other tracks alongside the trailer’s “Miracles (Back in Time).” Pre-orders come with an instant download of this song and the previous single, the percussive mantra “Keep Your Lips Sealed.” If you’re just discovering the Dø (pronounced “doe,” like do-re-mi), there’s no time like the present.
