Earlier this year, the Decemberists appeared on the season finale of Parks and Recreation. Last week, as the Portland, Oregon band gets set to release new album What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World, a couple of teaser videos arrived showing Parks and Rec‘s Nick Offerman hosting the Decemberists’ Colin Meloy on a vintage, bad-European-accented TV show. Now that turns out to have been a a preview of a full, Bill Fishman-directed video for the album’s bittersweet first single, “Make You Better.” Along with the Decemberists’ performance on The Old Blue Rock Palace Show, the short also follows Nick Offerman’s character and his feelings for a woman who makes him butter — er, better, sorry. “We’re not so starry-eyed anymore,” Meloy sings; Offerman gets it. Watch the whole, nearly seven-minute clip below.
