Bringers of Midwestern psychedelic rock the People’s Temple are back with their third LP, Musical Garden. Released by Chicago’s own Hozac Records, it’s loaded with 13 tracks of squealing psych guitars and dreamlike melodies.

Musical Garden‘s songs come in a variety of psychedelic colors and shapes. The band moves effortlessly from the gospel-like passages in “I Don’t Mind” to the pummeling psych of “Fast Thrills.” “I Heard You Singing” is a woozy lullaby — a hypnotizing guitar serenade undergirded with throbbing bass.

Lead single “Handsome Nick” positively swaggers. Rollicking guitars ravage through the track, surrounded by quivering tambourines and William Young’s impassioned howls. If you haven’t caught their previous albums, now is the time to take a listen.
