It probably shouldn’t be a surprise considering he’s down with Kanye and has already displayed a welcome sense of humor in side projects like Gayngs, but guess what Justin Vernon’s latest gig is? Why, it’s as “a heavily-seasoned guitar-crooning lost-cowboy” in the hip-hop group Jason Feathers. First teased in a vague trailer — available down below — the group reportedly features Vernon’s Bon Iver bandmate S. Carey, Minneapolis MC Astronautalis, an as-yet-unnamed bassist, and a “white-haired man with ghostly features” who’s most likely (judging by their track record together) Gayngs/Poliça mastermind Ryan Olson.

Curious as to what these goofballs actually sound like? Well you can stream the collective’s De Oro debut — featuring several references to spring break, may it last forever — over at Pitchfork Advance, and pick it up via Totally Gross National Product next Tuesday…
