Low Culture is a New Mexico-based quartet pulled together by Chris Mason of now-defunct Austin punk band Shang-A-Lang, who later recruited the Marked Men bassist Joe Ayoub to lend his garage-rock ‘n’ roll expertise. Their first LP Screens hit the stands back in 2013, and now the band is releasing a split with Needles // Pins that features melodic punk gem “Reservations.” Jangly and distortion-soaked, the track has an unconventional, whiplash-inducing structure. Rapid fire kick-drumming is sandwiched by choppy arpeggios and frantic, pop-punk-infused riffs. Check it out below and snag Low Culture’s split with Needles // Pins, out October 7th via Dirtnap Records.
