According to his Bandcamp page Shawn Lewis, the principle persona behind Lesionread, went to school to be an architect before bagging that dream to make music. That might be for the best, because of the cockeyed, inside-out songs he writes are any reflection of his general aesthetic, the buildings he’d design would be all angles and no roofs. “Neutron Bomb” is a bonkers bit of gonzo pop music. Organs wheeze and heave, drums rattle and clatter like busted engines and Lewis’s vocal melody spirals and pirouettes through the song like someone spinning cartwheels through sheets of neon pink paint. It’s one of the weirdest and most unique concoctions to come along in a while. The song is delightfully flabbergasting, collapsing and reforming, going spiky one minute and then oblong and bulbous the next. It’s the dizzying product of a distinct new voice.
