Aly Spaltro’s first studio LP as Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, 2013′s excellent Ripely Pine, was a full-band collection of poetic, disarming and surprising songs that rarely ended up where they started. She’s now been snapped up by Mom & Pop to release After on March 3, co-produced with her recording partner Nadim Issa. The album’s first single “Billions of Eyes” uses beachy reverbed guitar as Spaltro sings about traveling and “gnawing [her] way back home,” with an especially endearing verse about sharing a smile with strangers after just barely making it on to the train in time. It’s a big sound, and hints at a change in direction from her earlier work. Listen to the track below.

Lady Lamb the Beekeeper tour dates:

March 3 – Brooklyn, NY @ Rough Trade
March 7 – Cambridge, MA @ The Sinclair
March 13 – Portland, ME @ Port City Music Hall
