Grammar was birthed out of composer Barrie Lindsay’s senior thesis as a 15-piece orchestral chamber pop group. When Lindsay started to write songs driven by electric guitar, the band was reignited alongside keyboardist (and Lindsay’s older brother) Jack. Narrowed down to a mere five members, the Massachusetts-based band has put their synth-heavy spin on a handful of various covers ranging from Tom Petty to Miley herself. But Grammar excels in the unexpected, as evidenced by the shimmering cut, “New World.” Audacious lyrics surround the minimalist pop track, but they’re belied by the sly beats that wrap neatly around Lindsay’s textured, dreamy cooing.
Be on the lookout for Grammar’s self-released, self-titled EP on October 14th!
