On “A Little Bit Faster,” the second single from the forthcoming Adult Life, San Francisco power-poppers Cocktails nail the sound of late-20s nervous love. Patrick Clos’s vocals hicucp and pout, opening with the declaration that gives the song its title: “You make my heart beat a little bit faster.” For as jittery as Clos’s voice is, the guitars are razor-sharp and cutting. The cumulative effect is like a bryl-creamed ’50s tough, issuing romantic declarations from atop a gleaming, pristine motorcycle.
