“Icebreaker,” the first track from Buxton‘s forthcoming LP Half A Native, is a tongue-in-cheek romp about a guy who, when trying to pick up a woman, uses the cheesy pickup line “Let’s go to the back of my Studebaker.” (Not surprisingly, he gets turned down.) “Saw a girl I’d never seen/ she looked like the cover of a magazine like Vogue/ or Women’s Health/ I could tell she was educated/ readin’ a book about a hundred pages or more/ showin’ off,” frontman Sergio Trevino sings. It’s a frantic, dissonant track with plenty of twang in Trevino’s voice, and hints of psychedelia in its echoing guitar lines.

Half A Native is out via New West Records on February 3, 2015. Listen to the track below.
