Immediately following their Reddit AMA this afternoon, Sleater-Kinney released a new song, “Surface Envy” off their upcoming album No Cities To Love. They’d previously played a snippet of the song during an interview with All Songs Considered hosts Bob Boilen and Robin Hilton.

During the Q&A earlier today, SPIN reported that Janet Weiss revealed why they don’t have a bassist. Weiss said, “I don’t really love low end. That big bass sound that hits you in your gut is unpleasant! Not having a bass allows for the drums to occupy an interesting space in the music, which I really love. Also, bass players often make those funny faces.” Weiss also said she doesn’t drink soda, but she loves champagne and chocolate chip cookies. Carrie Brownstein mentioned that Fred Armisten offered to be the band’s roadie. In addition to releasing their first new album in 10 years, the trio plan to tour in support of the record.

No Cities to Love will be released on January 20 via Sub Pop.
