The Chris Gethard Show is a known cult favorite here in New York City, but it’s definitely an odd choice for a Sleater-Kinney appearance. None the less, the group was on the public access show last night with musical guest Priests. Rolling Stone noted that it was the trio’s first public appearance in over a decade.

After enduring a rather awkward interview with the host Chris Gethard, who explained his nervousness several times, the band participating in a game called “All Hands on the Bad One”; the basic premise was to keep your hands on annoying character Todd Watch as long as possible. (Yes, the name of the game is also the name of Sleater-Kinney’s fifth album.) In the meantime, people were invited to call in and ask odd questions. For instance, we now know that Carrie Brownstein’s favorite smell is vanilla.

Sleater-Kinney also mentioned that they’d only arrived minutes before the show started because they stopped to protest the grand jury’s decision not to indict officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner. Before Priets launched into their set, lead singer Katie Alice Greer took the time to note, “First we just want to say, the justice system in this country is fucked.”

Watch the entire episode below. Priests’ performance of “And Breeding” starts around the 20:55 mark.
