Here’s a story that’ll warm even the iciest of hearts. Metal gods Slayer helped rescue a homeless, freezing kitten and find it a new home last week. The band was in Indianapolis for a gig at the Old National Centre and came upon the feline after frontman Kerry King and some of the band’s crew went out for dinner downtown.
“Last night Kerry and some of the crew went to dinner at Kerry’s favorite steak house in Indy, St. Elmo’s Steak House,” publicist Heidi Robinson-Fitzgerald told Nuvo.net. “Afterwards, the assistant tour manager, Jess [Cortese] saw a homeless man on the street who offered up this little kitten for a dollar. The kitten apparently was freezing so Jess took it, slept with her in her bunk on the bus and went to the venue with her today, hanging out. One of the runners knew someone who wanted a kitten, so the little guy now has a new home where he or she currently is.”
Later, the kitten’s new owner posted another picture of her to the Old National Facebook page, writing, “Here she is! I named her Gypsy! I gave her a bath last night then she slept for 5 hours on the heating pad. She’s at the vet this morning being treated for fleas and worms.”
With Gypsy in her new home, we’re still not done talking about Slayer and cats. For whatever reason, a YouTube video from 2011 of a cat watching Slayer perform “Seasons in the Abyss” recently went viral, racking up over a million views. Here’s the description: “This is my cat Buddy. I was watching Slayer perform from the Big 4 concert and caught this little guy chillin’ and watching as well. What’s funny is how he looks so into it. I guess he takes after his master.” Buddy certain seems fascinated by them, what with that look of stone-cold concentration. Enjoy Buddy’s claim to fame below.
