Acoustic guitars were out in full force last night on the late-night TV circuit. Sharon Van Etten, who just released her best album yet, Are We There, brought hers (and her band) to Late Show With David Letterman, smokily saluting the wee small hours with gorgeous LP finale “Every Time the Sun Comes Up” — they censored the word “shit,” though; “ass” was fine. Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy and his new band, with his son Spencer on drums, visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, doing the strummy “High as Hello” and “Summer Noon,” from September LP Sukierae. Tweedy also shared a new song, “Fake Fur Coat,” via MTV, though as of this post it may not work on all browsers. Ah, technology — all the more reason to unplug.
