They may have start in grimy, DIY basements, but there’s no doubt Vienna-based Sex Jams are gaining speed at a rapid pace. They’ve already toured Europe with the likes of Future Islands, the Pharmacy and Ty Segall, and in October the group will kick off another one with Ed Schrader’s Music Beat. “Junkyard” is one part pop punk, one part fuzz, and two parts noise-pop. The track rocks and rolls with guitarwork that nods to post-hardcore greats like Rites of Spring and Hot Snakes, but still leave room to appreciate thumping bass lines and speedy drums. At once melodic and dissonant, “Junkyard” explodes with headbobbingly addictive energy.
