Complex has revealed some not-so-surprising news: Rihanna has reportedly ended her seven-album, nearly decade-long run with Def Jam in favor of a new deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint. That certainly seems to be the case on the imprint’s official site, which lists the singer under both its label and management arm. The decision most likely stems from a shakeup at Island Def Jam Music Group earlier this year, when CEO Barry Weiss dropped out of the company and Universal Music Group split it into three, less confusing entities: Def Jam, Island and Motown. Rihanna joined Kanye West and a few other key artists over at Def Jam under the new leadership of CEO Steve Bartels and co-executive vice presidents/A&R heads Kyambo “Hip Hop” Joshua and producer No I.D.
Maybe someone was upset over Rihanna’s decision to — gasp! — delete her Instagram account?
