A swaggering, bassless mid ’90s noise machine.

Bands with two guitars, drums and no bass were pretty much a cliché by the mid '90s, mostly due to the popularity of the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The cats in Vertigo did it better than most (and threw in bass now and then), generating a gnarly swagger part garage-rock fury, part noisy goofing off. Songs tend to blend together, which might not seem like much an endorsement, but the whole thing runs into a hazy whole that makes for a killer driving album.
