These 1939 radio broadcasts feature the groundbreaking guitarist with the Benny Goodman Sextet, showcasing his sheer drive and improvisational daring on scintillating renditions of such signature tunes as "Breakfast Feud," "Flying Home," "Seven Come Eleven" and "Solo Flight." With amplification, Christian was able to blow powerful solos over the band like a horn player. Indeed, his fluid legato phrasing bears the stamp of the great tenor saxophonist from the mid-'30s Count Basie band, Lester Young.
