So Atlantic signed producer Marshall Jefferson and vocalist Byron Stingily, who possessed an unearthly, sweet falsetto most reminiscent of Earth, Wind & Fire's Philip Bailey, and as Ten City they cranked out some of the most transported dance music of the era.
