The Best Of Rene Touzet

Rene Touzet
The best of one of the most famous Cuban bandleaders of the ’40s.

This Cuban bandleader relocated to Los Angeles in the '40s, where he led the number one Latin band in town. This compilation covers a wide variety of repertoire with great authority, from Ernesto Lecuona's “Siboney” to Lionel Hampton's “Midnight Sun,” with a wicked mambo version of the theme from El Cid. But the grand prize of the album is the “El Loco Cha Cha,” with its famed tumbao (groove) that has been documented as the source for the famous three-chord lick of “Louie, Louie.”
