If there's a single music that can claim to be truly American, it's that of the Native Americans. This compilation concentrates on the Southwest, where the culture remains strongest, with the Zuni and Hopi tribes. Authentic and unpolished, with evocations of spirit like "Laguna Buffalo Dance" and "Zuni Sacred Song," it's a peek into a society that's removed from mainstream America, and whose roots with the land run very deep. You may not understand the words, but there's a hypnotic glory in the sound.
