These warm little loveworn ditties deserve a second chance.

Yet another act that never got much love outside the rarefied circle of TeenBeat Records fanatics, Pacific Ocean's music was often derided for being bland and boring. And, sure, it's low-key — but it's that way on purpose. Any fan of Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo and Helium will fall head-over-heels with the music made by the P.O. Comprised of drummer Steve Pilgrim with on-again/off-again Versus member Ed Baluyut and Connie Lovatt of Containe, their songs weave male-female vocals through warm little loveworn ditties. Produced by Bill Callahan and featuring guitar from sonic terrorist Alan Licht, So Beautiful deserves a second chance.
