Samantha James

Sultry is the word you'll keep coming back to when listening to Samantha James 'debut album. The vocals, the music, the look: it's all built to seduce you and, given enough time, it undoubtedly will. James uses a variety of techniques: straight-up pop house ("Sent It Out to the Universe"), funky modern R&B ("Living Without You") Massive Attack-lite ("Come Through") or even a splash of Spanish guitar from Celso Fonseca ("I Found You"). But what makes the album is her voice, which veers from delicate cooing to sensual breathiness to resilient sturdiness in the span of eleven excellent tracks.
