God's Pottery

If it weren't for the raucous crowd laughing it up from the start, you might be hard-pressed to find out what's so funny about God's Pottery. Jeremiah Smallchild and Gideon Lamb play it as straight as possible throughout their new EP for Comedy Central Records. They're like the perfect youth pastors that you never had: nice, caring and totally oblivious. From "A Brand New Start With Christ," in which they try to convert Jewish, Muslim and even lapsed Christians in the audience to the premarital sex jam "The Pants Come Off When The Ring Goes On" to the surprisingly poignant track about a woman going through a divorce ("Stained Glass"), this duo never breaks character. The funny thing is, by the end, you almost don't want them to.
