Remember when Haram was the mature hardcore kid's band? Well, not so much anymore. Drescher sees the group adding another guitarist, making their muscled sound even more so. What isn't gone, however, is the band's resolve to expand the boundaries of what hardcore can be, much like Fugazi. (Speaking of which, you might be forgiven for mistaking "Mannequin" for a classic Picciotto/Mackaye duet on the chorus.) Sure, they're not reinventing the wheel, but by moving past the three-minutes-and-done punk ideal and balancing a trio of guitars that each interlock expertly with one another, Haram point towards a future classic. Needless to say, we're excited for the next one.
