Early recording of a Gypsy guitar master shows he nailed it from the beginning.

These historic recordings mark the early years of the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, led by the free-spirited Belgian-born Gypsy guitar phenom Jean Baptiste "Django" Reinhardt and co-starring his violin counterpart Stephane Grappelli. Together they unleash in typically jaunty fashion a set of bristling Swing-era staples, including "I'm Confessin'," "Dinah," "Oh Lady Be Good" and "Sweet Sue, Just You." Reinhardt's dazzling facility and sheer rhythmic drive still sound astonishing 70 years later.
