I first came across this record while serving as music director of my college radio station. At the time all things Shellac ruled my Discman, and the idea of a female Shellac seemed as unlikely as a post-graduate career. But then there was Canada. Recorded by — oddly enough — Shellac's Steve Albini, the album is tight-but-sloppy noise-punk set to drop-beat pounds and singer Arista Strungys 'absolutely bananas voice. Start with "Porn." (How many times a day do you hear that?)
