The daughter of two country-music vets — Liz Rose (Taylor Swift's main songwriting partner) and Johnny B. Rose (who's worked on the sales/distribution end of labels like MCA, Capitol and DreamWorks) — 23-year-old Caitlin Rose was raised on country music, and it comes through on her LP Own Side Now. She sings about being lonely ("Own Side"), hitting the bottom ("Sinful Wishing Well"), and smoking cigarettes ("Shanghai Cigarettes"), in a pop-influenced alto twang that falls somewhere between Jenny Lewis and Loretta Lynn.
