Featuring a faithful cover of "Monster Mash," everybody's favorite Halloween tune. In case you're wondering how it landed in a compilation of movie themes: Pickett cowrote Monster Mash: The Movie long after the song; he appears in the movie as Victor Frankenstein. The rest of the AMC album, most of which is strikingly visual, includes the timeless "Funeral March of a Marionette," first composed in 1872 and later used as a theme for Alfred Hitchcock, along with a version of the not-so-timeless "Ghostbusters." Warren Zevon's howling "Werewolves of London" (the original version!) is here, as is Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (another faithful cover) another go-to hit for America's DJs. A newly recorded "The Munsters" theme, with its lumbering bass and surf guitar, is a standout, and the theme from "The Addams Family" is a perennial kid favorite. My son's pre-school class learned the days of the week to that tune, even though none of them could snap.
