It probably shouldn’t be a surprise considering his deep Chicago roots, but R. Kelly is reportedly working on a house record. Speaking to fans at the city’s Chosen Few Picnic over the weekend, he said (via FACT), “I want y’all to know a secret. I’m working on a house album right now, and I want y’all to know, it’s coming … I love music and I feel like I can do anything when it comes to music because I am music, just like y’all … Thank y’all for the support; house album coming, y’all.”

Here’s cell phone footage of his entire onstage statement. No word on whether this’ll get in the way of White Panties — the singer’s “other level” sequel to Black Panties — or if it’s simply the general sound of that record.

“I always follow what my spirit tells me to do,” Kelly told V Magazine earlier this year. “When I get into the studio I write from my heart. I try to write life and not songs. People live life and when you write life, you’re going to mess around and touch somebody’s heart, and they’ll relate to you and what you’re singing about.”
