Although the single first leaked on Saturday, Gwen Stefani officially released “Baby Don’t Lie” off her upcoming album today. This will be the third solo record for the singer, her last was 2006′s The Sweet Escape.
Stefani stopped by On Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning to talk about being a coach on The Voice, being pregnant while working on the new No Doubt album, and how motherhood is treating her in general. Then she also mentioned another song called “Spark of Fire” that was produced by none other than Pharrell.
In regards to “Spark of Fire” Stefani said:
I feel like this whole thing is not about singles, it’s about the whole project… [Pharrell] had this beat and he had to play it for me, but they were like, “No, you got to go on the show.” And he was like, “No, I gotta do it now,” and his whole team is freaking out. And he plays me this thing and he starts singing, just in the air, and everybody in there was like, “Okay, there’s some magic going on right now.” I just hugged him, I almost started crying. You could tell he hit on it.
Then she actually went on to preview the track with Carson Daly on AMP Radio. Keep in mind, as Stefani said, “It’s not mastered! I hope Pharrell doesn’t get mad.”
