Spice, Jamaica’s queen of dancehall, is gearing up to release her debut EP So Mi Like It. With her contribution to Vybz Kartel’s “Rampin Shop,” another bananas collab between the two called “Conjugal Visit” and her most recent single, the title track from the EP, the December 2 release date for the EP has been hotly anticipated. “Whine Inna De Dance,” the collection’s concluding track, is perfectly primed for its title — it’s patiently percussive, the proper thing to move your hips to slowly and hypnotically in the club. Never bashful, Spice goes full throttle on this track, so much so that even after we’ve published an essay about Rihanna’s sexuality and done a Record Club focused on Lil’ Kim’s Hard Core, I’m still blushing over some of these lyrics. But she’s here for the ladies and the track is beaming with empowerment.
So Mi Like It is out via VP on December 2. She is also featured on A$AP Ferg’s new mixtape Ferg Forever.
