“Introversion” is a song with its teeth clenched. The guitars are stern and taut as a barbed-wire trampoline, and vocalist Michael Petkau Falk’s ominous baritone recalls Nick Cave and the National’s Matt Berninger — singers able to convey great, ominous portent just by opening their mouths. The song builds and builds and builds but never detonates, instead carrying its bottled-up anxiety straight through to its conclusion. It’s backed with a gentle cover of Sky Ferreira’s “Nobody Asked Me,” which swaps the original’s worked-up fury with sad resignation.
