As fans have discovered throughout their fall tour, Pond have a new album on the way early next year called Man It Feels Like Space Again. Due out January 27 through Caroline, it was wrapped just a month after the band’s last record (2012’s Hobo Rocket) was released, making it their sixth album since 2009. Maybe it’s time to stop using the term “Tame Impala side project” here, especially since Pond frontman Nick Allbrook was merely a touring member right up until his final departure in 2013? (In case you’re having trouble keeping track, he also released a solo record last month.)

However you look at it, the first couple singles from Man It Feels Like Space Again are bursting at the seams with grade A psych-rock grooves, delivered with a sense of humor that’s echoed in the water balloon-pelted iPhone footage below.
