Paul McCartney has just rebounded from a brief health scare, and he’s marking the occasion with a new video that includes a cameo by Johnny Depp. The Beatles legend canceled tour dates last month after being hospitalized due to a virus, and this past weekend he took the stage in Albany, New York, for his first concert since the illness. Now he has shared the black-and-white video for “Early Days,” a stripped-down remembrance of Sir Paul’s youth with John Lennon off of last year’s New.
Directed by Vincent Haycock, who recently oversaw the incendiary visuals for “West Coast,” from Lana Del Rey‘s new Ultraviolence LP, the clip goes between scenes of two aspiring musicians in a weirdly carefree ’50s American South — the footage was shot in Natchez, Mississippi and Faraday, Louisiana — and a Los Angeles jam session with Depp and blues musicians. You may have to look closely to see Depp, but he’s there. Most importantly, Macca is back; that time away had his fans worried.
