“Can I get real with you all tonight?” asked Nicki Minaj halfway into her second musical performance on this weekend’s Saturday Night Live.

The multifaceted MC born Onika Maraj can inhabit so many different personae convincingly that at times it’s as if she might be at her most real when playing a part; as she said this, she had already flawlessly impersonated her “Flawless” remix partner Beyoncé, as part of a hip-hop version of the nativity story, and only slightly less impeccably done an impression of Kim Kardashian, explaining the missing context from her Paper Magazine nude photos on “Weekend Update.”

In spending almost as much time on screen as host James Franco, though, Minaj also performed a couple of her more ostensibly personal songs, first the ex-targeting piano ballad “Bed of Lies” with Skyler Grey, and then, after her more swaggering “Only” and that request for permission to get real, the bracingly confessional “All Things Go” (see Nicki Minaj’s “All Things Go” Is Her Best Drake Song Ever). All three, along with a Beyoncé collaboration, are set for The Pinkprint, due out December 15 via recently tumultuous label Cash Money.

The real Nicki probably wasn’t the one we saw drawn up on last week’s South Park, but yes, she very much can get real.

She also announced some European tour dates; scroll down to see those below. Tickets go on sale first to fan club members; see more details here.
