It finally happened; New Brunswick, New Jersey now has its very own Spinal Tap. Available via YouTube, Bananazzz is a short film “about the most important band of our generation,” a basement punk act influenced by Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, Henry Rollins and Philip Glass.

“I don’t live a life that was laid out before my by the bourgeoisie United States government in the early 1950′s,” explains frontman Craig Evanhalen, “with the emerging middle class, no. They are the ones that hide the truth; I am the one that shouts it from the mountains!”

Helping Bananazzz tell their tale are such welcome special guests as R. Stevie Moore, Katy Goodman (Vivian Girls, La Sera), Screaming Females, Prince Rama, Spectrals and HABIBI. Check out the entire film below along with the group’s free EP; Douglas Wolk also wrote a feature about the real New Brunswick scene — the one that revolves around Don Giovanni Records — here
