In yet another example of how the geeks have essentially inherited the earth, Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson has paid $46,300 for the one-of-a-kind Aphex Twin test pressing Caustic Window. The Swedish computer programmer first alluded to his eBay win on Twitter, writing, “So I kinda paid a lot for a double LP from the ’90s.”

Joyrex, the We Are the Music Makers founder that launched the Caustic Window Kickstarter campaign, confirmed Persson’s purchase on the WATMM message boards, saying, “He’s a really cool guy, and didn’t even consider the charity aspect when buying it (but was really happy to hear that half is going to charity). He’s been an Aphex fan since he was young. My daughter was blown away that the guy who made the game she endlessly plays bought a record off her dad for 46K.”

Here’s the official Minecraft trailer in case you’ve never heard of the award-winning game, along with a YouTube stream of the entire Caustic Window record…
