Perry Farrell can now sincerely say, “Ich bin ein Berliner.” Lollapalooza has added an event in Berlin, festival organizers announced today, marking the Chicago-based fest’s fourth international location and first in Europe.
Lollapalooza Berlin is set for September 12-13, 2015, at Tempelhof Airport. “I’m extremely excited to finally bring Lollapalooza across the pond to Europe,” Farrell, Lollapalooza’s founder and the frontman for Jane’s Addiction, said in a statement. “Berlin’s energy, vibrant art, fashion and music scenes are a mirror reflection of what Lollapalooza is all about and I can’t wait to share in this cultural exchange.”
Lolla has previously added concerts in Chile, Brazil and Argentina. The Chicago event, held in Grant Park, has taken place every year since 2005, though the festival began in the ’90s as an alternative-rock package tour. Like artists from David Bowie to Liars, Lolla can now have its Berlin period.
